Cautiously Celebrating!

We are getting cautiously good news from the National Weather Service this morning. They think the river is in the process of cresting. This means that it could still go up a foot or so, but that would be significantly lower than the 43-foot possibility that we were all worried about. It is still important that the conditions "behave" with the storm forecast for Monday going south of us, the wind staying down (it would push the water more violently against the dikes), and the temperatures not warming up too quickly. Those are a lot of conditions to line up correctly, but at least we are getting good news! That feels much better than Thursday's grim news about the higher crest. It lets everyone take a deep breath at least.
