Behind Bars

I was attempting to capture the light in the eyes of the Mice. Mr. T observed that they looked like they were in jail - behind bars. The bars are actually just our window blinds.

Sunny is probably contemplating the fact that Grammy took Miss Mouse to a smoothie shop...with a twist.

When the rest of us went out for a frozen yogurt treat at a new shop on the south side of town, Miss Mouse wanted a smoothie. Since the shop doesn't sell smoothies, I told her she could watch us eat, and we'd stop for a smoothie for her on the way home. After all, a friend of mine had told me that there was a new shop open near our house; it's only neighborly to support a business trying to start on our declining side of town.

The patient Miss Mouse watched us eat our treats, all the while dreaming about what type of smoothie she would have; really, she watched her little sis enjoy chocolate mint yogurt, and still she held out! Turns out, we had to make a pit stop at home to meet the plumber for an estimate before we could hit the smoothie shop. Miss Mouse just continued to wait patiently. Finally, the anticipated visit the smoothie shop arrived. She and Grammy bounced on in, hand in hand....and returned with Grammy nearly doubled over with laughter several minutes later.

Apparently, the so-called smoothie shop was actually a health club focused on meal replacement drinks! So, there came my petite little Miss Mouse, sipping a blueberry meal replacement drink! As part of the "deal", my Mom had been given a sort of aloe vera drink shot followed by a raspberry iced tea (sort of a "chaser" for the aloe shot, perhaps?) which was then typically followed by the blueberry smoothie. Miss Mouse sipped her smoothie on the way home, which the rather confused employee had made specifically for a child rather than an adult. Yes, indeed, they were meal replacements designed to curb appetite and increase weight loss, and isn't that just exactly what a four-year-old who weighs in at the 10th percentile (if she's clothed in wet fleece) and measures in the 90th needs? There were tears of laughter in the front seat of the car that day as we drove home. Miss Mouse seemed confused about the whole deal and just enjoyed the smoothie, thank goodness!

Miss Mouse really wanted her eyes to show up in the light, too. Unfortunately, I just wasn't good enough to capture her bright baby blues. I'm still clawing my way up the learning curve on this photographic piece of equipment. I was pretty excited to capture, though, the sweet, and very natural, spirals in her hair.

Just like my sister and I, one of them has blue while one has green.

Miss Mouse's curls are beautiful, and that last photo of the two of them is very sweet.
